ACCOLADES/Honors
The Meridian Early College High School's tenth grade World Studies students have spent countless hours researching the past and present, creating promotional videos and public service announcement, organizing contacts to present at community organizations and promoting awareness of present-day human trafficking problems in Michigan, the United States and the world. For their hard work and determination the students have been recognized by state politicians as well as political figures at the federal level.

The World Studies students have received one of the highest honors bestowed on residents of Michigan from the Michigan House of Representatives, Michigan Senate and Governor Snyder. The House or Senate usually gives out the commendation for outstanding accomplishments. We have been bestowed the honor with a Special Tribute signed by Representative Stamas, Senator Moolenaar, and Governor Snyder. April 25, 2014 had been set aside as a day to pay tribute to Meridian Early College High School 2014 World Studies students for project two Promoting Nonviolence: Classroom to Community and project three The Chains that Bind Us: 1500 – 2014 (Present-day Human Trafficking). The idea behind each project was to create a better community, state, nation and world for all to live. The students also received a letter of recognition from United States Senator Debbie Stabenow for project one the Midland Center for the Arts project, project two Promoting Nonviolence: Classroom to Community and project three The Chains that Bind Us: 1500 – 2014. |
Attorney General Bill Schuette recognized the Meridian Early College High School tenth grade World Studies class for playing an important part in informing the local, state and global communities on the importance of being informed on the extent human trafficking plays throughout the world.

The President of the United States Barack Obama recognized the World Studies students for their commitment and dedication for presenting over 15 months around Michigan to create awareness on the importance of being familiar with the extent human trafficking plays locally, throughout the state, nationally and globally.
